At our core, we are abundant beings living in an abundant universe. On a soul level, we lack nothing. We are enough the way we are and abundance is all around us.
However, our ego, or false self, believes that we are NOT enough the way we are and that we need MORE to complete us. The ego constantly focuses on LACK and therefore strives to complete its sense of self with identities, possessions, roles, achievements, money, and so on in order to feel worthy.
This ego based “lack mindset” is a very LOW VIBRATIONAL energy and needs to be eradicated.
How?
Through GRATITUDE.
When you’re in a state of gratitude, you’re in a state of abundance. You see that everything is good enough the way it is, and you appreciate it for what it is. You see beauty in the seemingly unbeautiful because you’re focused NOT on “how this could be better,” but on “how this is already great.”
This is a KEY SHIFT you have to make in order to elevate your energy.
There is always something to be grateful for. Every single life experience can be viewed from a perspective of lack or abundance. It’s either things are never enough and therefore you always want more and always want things to be different, which creates more lack, OR you see the good, the upside, and the beauty in everything, and experience life from a place of gratitude, acceptance, and appreciation.
It’s really as simple as that.
So to help you get into a grateful mindset, here are some exercises you can do...
1. Say an affirmation to yourself. Sit still, close your eyes, and repeat the following affirmation: “I am whole. I am complete. I am abundant. I am beautiful. I am enough. I am happy. I am content.”
Keep repeating these positive statements several times and truly feel and mean what you say. Feel the inner sense of peace. Feel that you are already enough the way you are, no need for anything else.
Then, for the rest of the week, repeat these affirmations to yourself several times throughout the day, and focus on feeling this inner sense of wholeness and abundance, especially when you are feeling the opposite.
2. Make a list. Take out a piece of paper and make a list of everything you're grateful for. You can write down...
3 things you love about your life
3 things you love about life as a whole. Try to see life from a higher perspective and note what you are grateful for.
3 ways in which your life is already abundant and rich
3 qualities you love about yourself
3 people you deeply appreciate
3 things you love about where you live
3 things you love about your job
3 beautiful/amazing/miraculous/awe inspiring things you witnessed this week
(Remember, these things don't have to be extraordinary. They can be simple, subtle, and ordinary things you're grateful for).
3. Shift your mindset from lack to abundance. Name something in your life that you feel is lacking, is not good enough, or you need more of. Then, see this thing from a place of abundance and gratitude by considering the following questions:
Is it true that I don’t have enough?
Is it really as bad as I think?
How can I be grateful for even the little that I have?
How can I be grateful even though I don’t have this thing?
How can I look at this more positively?
What can this experience teach me?
For the upcoming week, try to adopt a more grateful mindset and embody this high vibrational energy as much as you can.
Focus on how beautiful life is and appreciate even the smallest, most ordinary of things. Be thankful for the people in your life, the job that you have, the house you live in, the car you drive, the health you have, and whenever something bad happens, try to see it in a more positive light.
You can always ask yourself in any situation that you find yourself unsatisfied, frustrated, or negative: What can I learn from this? How can I grow from this? Or... what can I do to make this better?
Things don’t have to be perfect or up to your standards for you to be able to appreciate them.
That’s the whole shift...
BEING GRATEFUL FOR SOMETHING EVEN IF IT DOESN’T LIVE UP TO YOUR EXPECTATIONS OR FIT YOUR AGENDA.
A good way to remain grateful throughout the day is to say “thank you” to everything you come into contact with.
You can do this in your head, out loud, or energetically. When you say thank you, your mind will naturally start to notice all the reasons to be thankful for that particular thing.
For example, when you step outside your house, just simply say “thank you,” and your mind will naturally scan your surroundings for what you can be grateful for such as the sun shining, the shoes on your feet, the trees, the warm air, the light breeze, or the beautiful day you’re having.
When you sit inside your car, again, say “thank you.” And then, FEEL the energy of gratitude and appreciation for all that you are surrounded by.
And ESPECIALLY say thank you when good things happen to you. Instead of feeling entitled to have that thing, be grateful for it. When you are looking for your keys and you finally find them, don't say "finally" or be annoyed that you couldn't find them this whole time or be angry at yourself for misplacing them, but instead just say "thank you" and be grateful that you found them.
This mindset will get you on the vibrational frequency where abundance flows. When you see abundance and when you FEEL abundant, abundance flows back to you. Your energy and consciousness will elevate and your life will start to shift drastically.
